Haven: A Stranger Magic

Details: The Dalcome family is the normal average family, brother and sister are always fighting each other, single Mother works so much and so hard to give her children what they need and some of what they want.  The son is so average that no one knows him, sees him.  The daughter has a short fuse on her temper, and when she blows abnormal things happen.  Who is the stranger that the son is stalking, and why can the daughter do things that seem like magic?

My Review:  I haven't read short stories in a long time, so to get a group of short stories to read, has been a pleasant change.  The author is talented, because the story line is easy to follow, the characters are from everyone's reality, the magic isn't corny but well written.  To compare this short story, I would have to say that the magic is a mix between Harry Potter and the Spiderwick Chronicles.  The lives of the characters are a mix between Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Harry Potter, and Narnia series.  I wasn't sure what to expect, and though the short story leaves you hanging.  Meaning that I can't wait to see where this goes.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

Details:  Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will help clean your walls, baseboards, floors, etc.  It easily removes scuff marks and dirt.  Its water-activated micro-scrubbers lift away built up grease and soap scum.  It contains NO harsh chemicals.

Review:  I was in the process of cleaning my gardening shoes.  I've used these for at least 4 years in my garden with the awful red clay soil.  Needless to say they were filthy.  I sprayed my newly homemade spot remover cleaner (post coming on that) and still needed that something extra to clean these shoes.  After all, the shoes are so comfortable to walk in and I'm in need of another pair of walking shoes.

I looked online and saw lots of recommendations of using Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on shoes.  I jumped in the car and ran down to my local $ General store.  I happened to ask the clerk about Mr. Clean's product and a competitor.  She's already sold on Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, so I got it too.

The next day, I tried out my magic eraser, and wolaa...That really works.  I couldn't believe it.  Now it didn't do quite as well on the suede parts, but hey, everywhere else looked great.

Then I went wild.  I tried it on my brush nickle fixture in my tub/shower.  It didn't get the spots of that, but personally I think that particular fixture set is defunct.  I used it on my SS sinks and wow! They really shine.  The clerk at $ General said it was the best thing she's ever used for soap scum and hard water deposits.  Next I tried it on all the marks on my poorly painted walls (done by so called professional painters...I can paint better than they can.)  It worked.  No more scuff marks.  I tried it on excess paint those painters left under my cabinets on the floor boards.  No more excess paint.  I tried this on so many more things with all great success.  I'm sold!!!

Pros:  Works wonder on everything it says it will do.

Review:  I've always liked Amdro for killing fire ants.  I'm exxxtreeemmmllly allergic.  Always have the Amdro granules in my garden basket just in case.  Well, this new system is something else.  I should mention, I also have this cool general bug killer system in a 1 gallon container with a spray wand, so easy to handle and just spray.  Well guess what?  Amdro combined my favorite two things into one.  Can't get much better than that.

You take this plastic container and fill it with water.  (They have a line to mark 1 gallon.)  Then they have a place where you attach this nifty little cartridge of concentrated ant killer (or weed killer, etc.  they have a few choices to help get rid of those nasty little pests and weeds.)  It is battery operated, which I don't like.  Hate to always have to replace batteries.

Then after your pump has been primed, just point and spray that wand at any fire ant hill, bug or other creepy crawly, weeds etc., and before you know it, you are pest and weed free.  It's as simple as that.

My nasty little fire ant hill disappeared (ok, the hill didn't completely disappear,) but the ants were dead within 24 hours.  All of the dead ants popped up to the top of the ant hill.  Hadn't seen that before with a fire ant hill.  The granules never worked that fast before.   And after 1 whole week later, still no fire ants.  Yeah!

As far as the weed killer goes, after 3 days the weeds started to turn yellow.  A week later, weeds are still yellow and turning brown.  I expected the weed killer to work as fast as the ant killer, but hey, I don't have to pull them by hand.

Just so you know, I did get this free for being a bzzagent, but I like this new Amdro System.

Pros:  Great stuff!  It works fast.

House on Plunkett Street

Details: Phoebe has always been a wall flower.  Her mom was a wall flower, who faded away into a drunkard.  Having tons of older brothers, and a father who were all into every sport known to man, Phoebe didn't fit into her family.  After living a life of being lost among the flow of nothing, its time for a change, and 3 ghosts decide to set her on the straight and narrow.  Will Phoebe find her way?  Will she find love?  Will unexpected tragedy lead to wall flower safety, or will Phoebe find the courage to live life to the fullest?

My Review: I love reading!  I love getting books from authors directly!  I love getting signed books!  My two favorite book shelves are my Signed books, and my Saved books (very old books that I find, rescue, and keep special).  I am happy to say that House on Plunkett Street came to me at the right time in my life.  Things are pretty crazy for me and my family, and the author's message "Live life to the Fullest!" is what I really needed to read, hear, and understand by reading this book right now.  This is very well written, the plot has you intrigued the whole time, wanting to learn more about Phoebe, wanting to learn more about each ghost-ett who comes to visit her.  I love the characters, they all come to life.  Polly and Pam are my favorite characters.  They are so real, so full of energy, and excitement.  This is the perfect pick me up novel.  The perfect, help me without preaching to me book.  The perfect examples of how to live life to the fullest!  And its not like the Christmas story Scrooge. You learn about some of the important history from an era that is almost forgotten in today's society.  You learn about women who knew what being a "real woman" really meant, and how so much has changed.  Chapter four is my favorite chapter, with great advice from ghost number one, she will be nameless in my review because she is very important to the ending of the story.

Pros: great plot, amazingly real and honest characters, I love the lessons and the history
